2007 Schedule of Events


 

Thursday August 16

7:00 p.m. The statue of La Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca will be carried in solemn procession to the Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park, accompanied by the Italian-American Band for the annual blessing of the Boston fishing waters. Father Antonio Nardoianni, pastor of St. Leonards Parish will preside over the blessing. This will mark the official opening of the 97th annual Fisherman’s Feast of Boston in honor of La Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca. Following the blessing the statue of the Madonna will be carried in short procession through the Feast area before being placed in her chapel at 11 Lewis street.

7:30 p.m. - Sorrento Cheese Stage - D.J. Sal Bartolo entertains the crowd spinning tunes of everyone’s favorite musical hits.

8:00 - 11:00 p.m. Visit the Miller Lite Beer Garden located in the Fulton Street lot at the corner of Lewis and Fulton Streets. Enjoy a cool, refreshing Miller Lite or Peroni Nastro Azzurra beer. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

8:30 p.m.  - Sorrento Cheese Stage - Once again it’s time for the Sorrento Cheese “ Cheese Tower Building Competition for Charity”.   Celebrities to be announced.

The winner of this contest will have $1,000.00 donated to his/hers favorite charity, compliments of Sorrento Cheese.

9:30 p.m. - Sorrento Cheese Stage -  Street Magic presented by Strega Restorante

 

 

Friday August 17

8:00 - 11:00 p.m.Sorrento Cheese Wine and Cheese Tent Enjoy sampling a fine selection of wines from various regions of the world, and what goes great with wine? Sorrento Cheese of course! Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

8:00 - 11:00 p.m. Visit the Miller Lite Beer Garden located in the Fulton Street lot at the corner of Lewis and Fulton Streets. Enjoy a cool, refreshing Miller Lite or Peroni Nastro Azzurra beer. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

6:00 - 8:00 p.m. - Sorrento Cheese Stage - Once again enjoy the music of D.J. Sal Bartolo

8:00 p.m. Sorrento Cheese StageThe Sorrento Cheese Fisherman’s Feast of Boston proudly presents’ Mr.Louis Vanaria. Louis made his acting debut playing Mario in the movie classic “A BRONX TALE”, Louis recently co-starred in the movie Stiffs with the legendary actor Danny Aiello

9:30 p.m. Sorrento Cheese Stage - Sorrento Cheese proudly presents Eddie Mekka performing old time favorites.  Eddie is best known as Carmine “The Big Ragu” Regusa from ABC-TV sitcom Laverne & Shirley. He has also appeared on shows such as Moonlighting, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. His love of theatre has led to various stage roles including Fiddler on the Roof, The Goodbye Girl and Little Shop of Horrors.

 

Saturday August 18

12:00 noon  Family Day at the Sorrento Cheese Fisherman’s Feast. Bring the kids and enjoy a walk along North and Lewis Streets as they are transformed into "Via Bambini" There’s plenty of FREE children’s events, give aways, games, moonwalks, face painting and more! courtesy of "Pepsi" the official soft drink of the Sorrento Cheese Fisherman’s Feast of Boston.

12:00 - 4:00 p.m.  - Sorrento Cheese Stage - TBA

4:00 - 6:00 p.m.Sorrento Cheese Wine and Cheese Tent, Join us for live cooking demonstrations located at the corner lot of Fleet and North streets. Enjoy celebrity and local chefs as they create mouth watering delicacies.

8:00 - 11:00 p.m. Our cooking tent has now transformed over to the Sorrento Cheese Fisherman’s Feast Wine and Cheese Tasting Tent. Enjoy sampling a fine selection of wines from various regions of the world, and what goes great with wine? Sorrento Cheese of course! Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

8:00 - 11:00 p.m. Visit the Miller Lite Beer Garden located in the Fulton Street lot at the corner of Lewis and Fulton Streets. Enjoy a cool, refreshing Miller Lite or Peroni Nastro Azzurra beer. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

8:00 p.m.  - Sorrento Cheese Stage – Comedian John Pizzi 

9:30 p.m.  - Sorrento Cheese Stage – Sorrento Cheese proudly presents singing sensation Mr. Gianni Russo. Mr. Russo is best known as Vito Corleone’s favorite? son-in-law "Carlo" from the classic hit movie "The Godfather". Mr Russo has starred in dozens of hit movies, The Freshman ( with Marlon Brando), Godfather II, Rush Hour II, Seabiscuit, Harvard Man, Any Given Sunday and many more. Mr. Russo will be singing selections from his new hit CD "Reflections"

 

Sunday August 19

 

11:00 a.m. Outdoor Solemn High Mass in honor of La Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca, concelebrated by Father Antonio Nardoianni.

12:00 noon. - Sorrento Cheese Stage - Presentation of the Privitera Family Scholarship. 

12:00 noon. The annual 7 hour procession of the statue of La Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca through the streets of Boston’s North End accompanied by six marching bands.

1:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Sorrento Cheese Stage - Continuous live Music

4:00 - 6:00 p.m. - Sorrento Cheese Wine and Cheese Tent - Join us for live cooking demonstrations at the Sorrento Cheese cooking tent, located at the corner lot of Fleet and North streets. Enjoy celebrity and local chefs as they create mouth watering delicacies.

3:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Sorrento Cheese StageBoston's own Jimmy Geeny.

6:00 - 11:00 p.m. Visit the Miller Lite Beer Garden located in the Fulton Street lot at the corner of Lewis and Fulton Streets. Enjoy a cool, refreshing Miller Lite or Peroni Nastro Azzurra beer. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

7:30 p.m. Sorrento Cheese Stage - Entertainment featuring "Breakaway"

8:00 p.m. The Famous Flight of the Angel! as the statue of the Madonna returns to North street for the finale of the day long procession she is greeted by a crowd of enthusiastic spectators, each waiting for the opportunity to witness the Famous Flight of the Angel. Yankee magazine calls it "truly one of Boston’s greatest treasures" and National Geographic Magazine say’s " It’s a spectacle NOT to be missed!’  As the angel ceremony is completed the spectators below are covered by a snowfall of confetti paper from the rooftops.  This year's flying angel is Jordyn Amoroso with side angels Anne McDonald and Kathryn Russo.

10:30 p.m. The closing procession as the Madonna returns to her permanent chapel at 9 Lewis Street.

11:00 p.m. - Sorrento Cheese Stage - Drawing of the winning raffle tickets.
